Senior Project Questions was created by Alexi Sciutto

Hey there Ginsberg,

So we are looking at a few options for microphones. We are shooing 95% of the film in a car, attached to a process trailer. Would it be better to use wireless lavs or would it be better to use hardwire lavs. We are looking at either the Countryman B6, Sennheiser MKE2, and the Sennheiser G3. We are working with Coffee sound on this one, and for the boom mics, they were recommending the Sennheiser MKH 70 with the MKH 60, but from the knowledge form your class, we wanted to go with the BP4071. Which one would you prefer us using form an outside shoot, possibly on a studio backlot?

p.s. We know about studio roles on radio frequencies and we will adjust to their terms. Ohhh, and only 10 walkie talkies so dont worry!

If you have any feedback for us, that would be greatly appreciated! We just got our groups so we are very early in the planning stages so if you would like to meet, we have more than enough time.

Thank you again and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Much Appreciated,

Alexi, Lisa and Judi The "SOUND" Crew

The MKH70 and the 4071 are extremely similar, so go with either one for a long shotgun.

To mic the inside of the car, I would plant an MKE-2 hardwired lav up in the sun visor. Avoid wireless as much as you can, especially in vehicles, because there is always unseen interference from engines and passing vehicles.
