Yeah.... we are done with the "basic lectures". For the rest of the semester, we will concentrate on the technology....
... beginning this week with how to use a mixing panel. READ the articles in the reading list pertaining to mixing panels. Especially download (to your computer) the manual for the Mackie 1402 and review it -- after you have read my short version article about its use.

Next two weeks, we will begin shooting video scenes so that all of our lectures so far come together and you get your first real feel for production sound mixing. Read the "Exercises" synopsis of the AIRPORT skit. For those scenes, we will deploy a 3-person sound crew, a camera operator and AC, a Director and AD, 3x talent, and BG extras. We will NOT light the set. First we will do a long "walk & talk" boomed dialogue. Later, we will up the ante and add a hidden planted mic. Remember to bring your professional headphones for the shoot. Don't forget the 1/4-inch stereo tip that came with your headphones!
