CAS smCINEMA AUDIO SOCIETY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 2nd annual CAS STUDENT RECOGNITION AWARD

Los Angeles,16 Sept 2015 -- The Cinema Audio Society announced today that it is accepting applications for the 2nd Annual CAS Student Recognition Award. The award comes with a $2,500 grant and is intended to encourage students’ interest in production or post-production sound mixing, and to recognize individual students with exceptional demonstrated passion for the field.

Los Angeles, 16 September 2015-- The Cinema Audio Society has opened applications for the CAS Student Recognition Award.  First presented at the CAS Award Dinner in 2015, this honor comes with a $2,500 cash award and is intended to encourage students’ interest in production or post-production sound mixing, and to recognize individual students with exceptional demonstrated passion for the field.

Editors Note: In addition to the cash award, Izotope, Audio Technica, K-Tek, and other industry suppliers have also agreed to provide  products to the winners. But even more valuable than the cash award is the networking opportunities afforded the winners -- a chance to meet, connect with, and maybe even work with pretty much anyone and everyone in our biz.

“Reviewing the applications last year we were thrilled to discover this next generation is passionate and dedicated," said CAS President Mark Ulano, “and that the future of sound mixing is in good hands and ears! We were happy with the response to this award last year and this year we are hoping for an even greater number of applicants as more schools share the news.”

The selection criteria will focus on the student’s short essays in response to application questions, along with professor’s recommendation letter.  Five finalists will be invited to the 2016 Awards dinner, on February 20th 2016, as guests of CAS (travel expenses not included), where the Student Recognition Award recipient will be announced.

Eligibility for the CAS Student Recognition Award is open to any student enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program at an accredited college or university.  Students may be pursuing any major (indeed, many current CAS members majored in music, psychology, English, engineering and other fields); but should have a demonstrated interest and some experience in production and/or post-production sound mixing for film and television.

The complete application guidelines and details for applying can be found on the CAS website at: http://cinemaaudiosociety.org/?page_id=3335

Please encourage students who fit the criteria to apply.
