Just back from Studio Depot (Mole Richardson). As many of you are aware, they moved out of Hollywood and are now located in the San Fernando Valley (Pacoima), very close to the 5 freeway at Osborne. They offer a full 20% discount to all film students!
Studio Depot sells film production expendables, such as gaffers tapes, tools, widgets, cases, and all manner of neat stuff. Shopping there is like going to CostCo.... you walk in thinking that you are only going to get one or two things on your list, and end up walking away with a bucket full of goodies.
Literally, a bucket. With every decent sized purchase, they give you a large plastic utility bucket!
They are very student friendly. Browse, but ask as many questions as you want. Unlike some other places in town, these people are enthusiastic about teaching the craft to the new generation. And they discount generously! At least 20%, and sometimes more depending on the item.
Studio Depot is located at 12154 Montague Street, Pacoima CA 91331. Take Osborne Ave east, just past San Fernando Road, and turn right onto Norris.Take Norris down to Montague and turn left. Mole Richardson is the brand new large building complex at the end of the block, on your right. Too big to miss it!
